The 4 star Mercure Ardoe House is a 19th century mansion house set in 30 acres of tranquil countryside. This 4-star Aberdeen hotel is 3 miles outside the city centre. All bedrooms are en suite facilities with TV, Wi-Fi, telephone and tea making facilities. There is a lift.
The 4 star Leikanger Hotel is a family managed hotel which provides outstanding hospitality, located on the south facing shore of the fjord. There is a garden and terrace and all meals are buffet style. All bedrooms are en suite with colour TV, Wi-Fi and telephone. There is no lift.
The 4 star Union Hotel Geiranger offers first class service and is surrounded by incredible waterfalls, mountains and the beautiful fjords. The hotel was refurbished in early 2008 and now has new comfortable furniture and light colours. Each room is unique and offers different kinds of views, either over the fjords or over the mountains. All the rooms have a TV, Wi-Fi, sofa, free entrance to the relax department, garden and lounges. The hotel offers transfer service free of charge from the quay for guests without a car. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the harbour; in summer, there is a nice walking path open along a waterfall. There is a lift.
The 3 star Hotel Loenfjord is a lovely hotel in a truly stunning location on the banks of the Loen Fjord and only 500m from the centre of the village. Offering well-maintained accommodation, the hotel is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding region. The hotel gardens, restaurant and many bedrooms enjoy panoramic views over the fjord. The 3 star Stalheim Hotel has a stunning hilltop, panoramic position overlooking the Naeroy, Brekke and Jordal valleys. The first hotel was founded in 1885, it was occupied by the Germans during the Second World War and was rebuilt in 1960. Today this historic hotel offers very comfortable accommodation, all the bedrooms are en suite. Facilities include a bar, restaurant, gift shop and several comfortable lounges. Wi-Fi in public areas. There is a lift.
The 4 star Thon Hotel Bergen Airport is a modern business and conference hotel only 2kms from Bergen Airport. Its facilities include an indoor leisure are with swimming pool. All guest bedrooms have private facilities, tea making facilities, TV and Wi-Fi. There is a lift.
Coach transfer to Aberdeen for overnight half-board accommodation at the Mercure Ardoe House Hotel.
Following an early breakfast we transfer to Aberdeen Airport for our early morning flight to Bergen. On arrival in Bergen our Bibby's coach and drivers will be waiting and your Norway experience will begin as we drive via Voss, Vik Fjell, the impressive Sognefjord, where we take the short ferry crossing to the Leikanger Fjord Hotel for 2 nights half-board accommodation.
This morning we visit Balestrand, an idyllic village on the main Sognefjord with its narrow fjord branches and scenic and lush mountain landscape. Here you will find high mountains, deep fjords and peace and quiet. We continue via the sublime scenery of the Gaularfjellet where at the rest area at Utsikten you can admire the panorama of mountains and valleys.
We depart Leikanger and travel via route 55 over the Sognefjellsvegen, the highest mountain pass road in Northern Europe. The road passes through the Jotunheimen, Hurrungane, and Breheimen mountains with the highest point of the road reaching 4,705ft. We descend to the village of Lom with its impressive waterfalls and stave church. From Lom we travel down into Geiranger village for overnight half-board accommodation at the Union Hotel.
Another memorable day of scenery as we travel via the famous Eagle Road (Ørnesvingen), offering breath-taking views over the Geirangerfjord. We continue to Valldal to the top of the Trollstigen, pausing at the view point. We then descend into the Romsdalen Valley to view the Trollveggen (The Troll Wall) the tallest vertical rock face in Europe. Later, we re-trace our steps back to Valldall and join the Liabygda to Stranda ferry, onto Hellestylt and to Loen for 2 nights half board accommodation at the Hotel Loenfjord.
A morning visit the Briksdal Glacier, attractively set between roaring waterfalls and high peaks. To enjoy the best views of the Glacier we include a ride in 'Trollcars' (small motorised carts with 7 seats). We also have free time in Loen.
Departing Loen we travel via Fjærland, Sogndal and Laerdal to the mountain retreat of Stalheim. We check in for overnight half board accommodation at the Stalheim Hotel. Following our evening meal, we include a visit to the Stalheim Folk Village Museum.
We depart Stalheim and enjoy more grand scenery as we travel via the Hardanger Fjord, Eidfjord and the majestic Vøringsfossen Waterfall. We continue along the Hardanger Fjord to Bergen where you have free time to explore Norway's most international city, packed with history and tradition. Take time to dine in one of the many quayside restaurants before we check in at the Thon Hotel Bergen Airport for overnight bed and breakfast accommodation.
An early start we make the short transfer to Bergen Airport for our early morning flight to Aberdeen. On arrival our coach will be waiting to transfer you home, arriving into our local area mid to late evening.
