Devils Porridge Museum, Annan & Carlisle

£22.00 per person

Overview

Including the Centenary Poppies at Carlisle Castle.

The Devil's Porridge Museum tells the story of how this once quiet area flourished into a hub of wartime munitions activity. The unique name was inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who, while visiting the factory as a war correspondent witnessed the munitions girls kneading the guncotton explosive mixture, 'into a sort of Devil's Porridge' (2.5hr stay). We then head to Carlisle where we will view the Weeping Window poppy sculpture at the Castle, marking the centenary of the end of the First World War, before enjoying some free time.

Entry included. Leave for home 5.00pm.
