You only need to take a short and pleasant ferry ride across the Solent to be transported to a different world. The Isle of Wight is home to some of the most diverse countryside in the UK and generally enjoys milder weather and more sunshine than the mainland. The coastline has lovely views over the Solent. Travel inland and you will find picturesque villages and a wealth of holiday attractions.
The 3 star Channel View Hotel is in a unique location occupying an elevated cliff top position overlooking Shanklin Bay. Facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna and solarium. All the en suite bedrooms have TV, radio, telephone, hairdryer and tea making facilities. The hotel is renowned for its excellent cuisine and wine list. There is entertainment several times a week in the Alverstone Room. There is a lift although some rooms have a few steps to them including the entrance to the hotel, restaurant and entertainment room.
We travel via the main roads and motorways to Southampton for the short ferry crossing to East Cowes. We continue to Shanklin for 5 nights half board accommodation at the Channel View Hotel.
We retrace our journey to Southampton, continuing north via the main roads and motorways to arrive home early evening.
