We travel to Highclere Castle, the setting for ITV’s brilliant drama ‘Downton Abbey’. Highclere is one of England's most beautiful Victorian Castles set amidst 1,000 acres of spectacular Parkland. The Carnarvon family have lived at Highclere since 1679 and have a fascinating connection with ancient Egypt, as the 5th Earl, with Howard Carter, discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings in 1922. After our visit we make our way home making suitable refreshment stops along the way, arriving into our local area mid to late evening.
