The 3 star Lakeside Hotel is a family run, independent hotel located on the edge of Lough Derg. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, tea making facilities and hairdryer. There is a bar, lounge, restaurant and leisure centre with indoor heated swimming pool. Wi-Fi access throughout public areas. There is no lift but ground and low floor rooms are available on request.
The 4 star Stormont Hotel is situated in the leafy suburbs of Belfast four miles from the city centre. Enjoy contemporary dining and relax in the stylish lounge and reception area. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, hairdryer, tea making facilities and Wi-Fi. There is a lift.
We journey to Holyhead to board the early afternoon Stena Line Ferry to Dublin. We then transfer to Carlow for overnight half board accommodation at the Seven Oaks Hotel.
Departing after breakfast we travel west visiting the town of Kilkenny. Later we continue to Cashel for an afternoon tea stop, taking in views of the historical landmark Rock of Cashel. We continue to Killaloe and the shores of Lough Derg for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Lakeside Hotel.
Today we spend the day in Galway, the 2020 City of Culture. Take an open top bus tour or the little road train to see all the sights the city has to offer or immerse yourself in the city on foot.
Morning visit to the Bunratty Castle & Folk Park. Enjoy the sights, sounds, tastes and scents of this enchanting place as you stroll from house to house around the charming village street, complete with school, post office, doctors house, hardware shop, printers and of course McNamara's pub! In the afternoon, we board the Spirit of Killaloe, from our hotel's private jetty, for a scenic cruise on lovely Lough Derg. (Please note there are 29 steps to negotiate before boarding and after disembarking).
Our excursion today takes us into the Burren region of County Clare including the famous Cliffs of Moher, with views towards the Atlantic Ocean that take your breath away. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Aran Islands and Galway Bay. We then continue to Black Head and Ballyvaughan and return to our hotel via Corofin.
We depart after breakfast and travel via Kildare & the Curragh racecourse, continuing to Stormont near Belfast for overnight half board accommodation at the Stormont Hotel.
Morning transfer to Belfast for the mid-day sailing to Loch Ryan. Arriving back into the local area early evening.
