The 3 star Duke of Gordon is a privately owned hotel in the heart of the Scottish Highlands and the Cairngorm National Park. The hotel offers traditional character and heritage of an old Scottish coaching inn. All the en suite bedrooms have TV, Wi-Fi, trouser press and tea making facilities. There is a lift to 1st and 2nd floors only.
We travel north via the main roads and motorways to the small town of Kingussie for 4 nights half-board accommodation at the Duke of Gordon Hotel.
This morning we visit the Highland Wildlife Park in Kingussie where we experience Scottish wildlife and see endangered animals of the world's mountain and tundra regions in a spectacular setting. In the afternoon you can spend time at leisure in Kingussie or there will be an optional trip to the Highland Folk Museum (free entry) in Newtonmore.
We take the short drive to Aviemore where we board the Strathspey Steam train to Broomhill. Next, we journey up to Grantown-on-Spey for some free time before we head further up the Spey Valley and visit the Speyside Cooperage, home of the ancient art of Coopering. We return via Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands.
This morning we visit Fort Augustus, situated on the most southern tip of Loch Ness. Later in the day we travel along the shores of Loch Ness to the 'Highland Capital' of Inverness, where we have free time to explore.
Departing after breakfast we travel home via the main roads and motorways, arriving into our local area late afternoon.
