A return visit to The Hydro Hotel standing high above Crieff and enjoying views of the Ochil Hills and the Strathearn Valley. A beautifully appointed luxury hotel offering warmth, comfort, good food, spacious rooms and superb leisure facilities.
The 4 star Crieff Hydro Hotel is an old Victorian property transformed into a tastefully restored vibrant hotel and spa. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities, hairdryer and Wi-Fi. The public areas are extensive with 5 restaurants, a swimming pool, spa, solarium, golf course and fitness centre. There is a lift.
We travel to The Helix, home to the Kelpies, the world's largest equine sculptures. We include a guided tour before continuing to the Crieff Hydro Hotel for 3 nights half board accommodation.
We drive via Perth and Blairgowrie, Glenshee and Braemer making suitable stops, we follow the River Dee to Ballater and Banchory, before returning to the hotel.
Lochs and mountains as we travel via Loch Earn and Glen Ogle to Loch Tay situated beneath Ben Lawers. We break in Aberfeldy, famous for the 5 arched Wades Bridge which spans the River Tay. Later we visit Pitlochry with time to browse at leisure.
We transfer to Crieff centre to discover the old town. Later we visit the Glenturret Distillery and Visitors Centre for a tour and a 'wee dram', before travelling home, arriving late afternoon.
