We return to the delightful resort of Weymouth for some spring sunshine and relaxation. Our base for this tour is the Hotel Rex, situated on the Esplanade overlooking the sands of Weymouth Beach and the Jurassic Coastline beyond. The hotel offers all the comforts and luxuries of a modern hotel yet still retains its original character and splendour.
The 3 star Hotel Rex is situated on the Esplanade overlooking Weymouth Beach and the nearby 17th century harbour. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities, hairdryer and Wi-Fi. There is a lift but there are some steps at the hotel entrance.
We travel south via the main roads and motorways to Weymouth for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Hotel Rex.
We travel via Wareham, Poole and Sandbanks to the attractive seaside resort of Bournemouth.
We visit Lyme Regis, a true gem of the Jurassic Coast, before an included visit to Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, with its Spring blooms of magnolias and camelias, described by Alan Titchmarsh as 'One of the finest Gardens I have ever visited'.
A morning visit to Thomas Hardy's Dorchester, the county town of Dorset. We suggest a visit to the County Museum (price not included) or visit the shops and cafés on the pedestrianised main street. We return to Weymouth for a free afternoon.
