Dorset is a county of great beauty, boasting the mildest climate in the UK and beyond the varied coastline lies rolling countryside rich in archaeology and unspoilt rural villages. Our itinerary features many of the TV series Broadchurch filming locations, a fascinating behind the scenes tour of the RNLI College in Poole and the historic market town of Dorchester. Our base is the family owned George Albert Hotel, providing quality accommodation in a relaxing environment.
The 3 star George Albert is a private, family owned hotel offering modern facilities as a new hotel whilst retaining a distinctive friendly atmosphere. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities, hairdryer and Wi-Fi. The spa facilities in the hotel offer sauna, steam, Jacuzzi and beauty treatments all of which need to be booked and paid for on an individual basis direct with the salon. There is a lift.
We journey via the main roads and motorways to Dorchester for 4 nights half board accommodation at the George Albert Hotel.
Today we visit maritime Poole, beginning with a fascinating behind the scenes tour of the RNLI College, where we learn how crews and lifeguards are trained. Free time follows to explore the town with its historic quayside, shops and home to Europe's largest natural harbour.
We head to West Bay on Dorset's dramatic coastline, now famous as the location of ITV’s drama 'Broadchurch', and then to nearby Bridport and onto Lyme Regis.
We spend the morning in Weymouth, a seaside resort that has 'kept up with the times' but still retains its quaint coastal charms. Later we return to Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, where you can explore this historic market town.
We depart after breakfast, arriving home early evening.
