We return to the Lion Hotel Criccieth, where a warm traditional welcome awaits and a new itinerary features two of Wales’s most impressive castles and the stunning scenery that the country is famed for.
The 3 star Lion Hotel is situated on the village green with views of Cardigan Bay. It offers friendly and comfortable hospitality, with a lounge, bar and restaurant serving delicious meals. All the en suite bedrooms have TV, telephone, radio, alarm clock and tea making facilities. There is a lift. Some rooms are situated behind the hotel in the Castle Cottages.
We travel via the main roads and motorways to Bodnant Gardens near Colwyn Bay. We continue to Criccieth for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Lion Hotel.
This morning we travel north onto the Isle of Anglesey where we take a break at the Pringle Woolen Mill. On then to Beaumaris where we include a visit to the towns impressive castle, possibly the most sophisticated example of medieval military architecture in Britain. We return via the Llanberis Pass and Beddgelert.
We enjoy a morning coastal drive to the resort of Abersoch for a coffee break before returning to Pwllheli. After lunch we return to Criccieth for an afternoon by the sea.
We follow the route to Blaenau Ffestiniog and the Crimean Pass, taking a break in the town of Betws-y-Coed before continuing to the town of Conwy. Later in the day we visit Penrhyn Castle, a magnificent example of early 19th century neo-Norman architecture.
We travel via Bala Lake and Corwen to Llangollen for refreshment, before continuing our journey home, arriving early evening.
