We depart our local area and travel to Knaresborough (lunch stop) and then onto Goldsborough Old Hall. Here we enjoy the famous collection of snowdrops, featuring over 60 varieties - some so rare they haven't even been named yet! Late afternoon we make the short journey to Huby, for 4 nights half board accommodation the Best Western Burn Hall Hotel.
We travel to Pickering where we board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and journey to Grosmont. This is one of the world's greatest heritage railways, we can enjoy the spectacular scenery of the rugged North York Moors.
This morning we visit the National Railway Museum in York, home of iconic locomotives and an unrivalled collection of engineering brilliance. The remainder of the day is free to explore York at leisure.
Our first destination this morning is the town of Thirsk, here we include entry to the award-winning James Herriot Museum. Walk through his fully-restored 1940s home and surgery, travelling back in time to what life was like when James was practicing. You have free time after your visit, before we return via Helmsley.
Departing for home we travel to Ripon, where today is market day. We continue our journey, arriving into our local area late afternoon.
