A 5 day break into the counties of Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, where we have included some interesting visits to showcase this corner of England. We visit the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, Cambridge, Ely and Bury St Edmunds. Our accommodation is the 3-star Holiday Inn on the outskirts of Cambridge.
The 3 star Holiday Inn Cambridge is set by a lake in rolling countryside just 2 miles outside Cambridge. There is a restaurant and bar, indoor swimming pool with steam room, jacuzzi, sauna and gym. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities, hairdryer, iron & ironing board, safe and Wi-Fi. There is no lift but ground floor rooms are available.
We travel South and enjoy a break in the historic town of Stamford. Later we continue to Cambridge for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Holiday Inn.
Today we visit the superb Imperial War Museum at Duxford, formerly an RAF base, today it is Europe's foremost aviation museum and part of the Imperial War Museum.
Our first stop is the city of Ely, here you have chance to visit the cathedral or stroll around the town. Later we transfer to the market town of Bury St Edmunds with its famous Abbey Gardens and connections with Dickens.
This morning we make our way into Cambridge and meet our guide for a tour around this famous University city. We finish the tour at the American Cemetery, then enjoy free time to explore at leisure.
We depart for home returning via Rutland Water, Oakham and Melton Mowbray, arriving early evening.
