The excellent Best Western Blunsdon House Hotel is our base for this mid-week Springtime break, featuring visits to the fascinating Chavenage House, (which stars as Trenwith House in the hugely popular 'Poldark'), Abbey House Gardens and the city of Oxford.
The 4 star Best Western Premier Collection Blunsdon House Hotel is set in 30 acres of Wiltshire countryside, with very high standards and facilities include an indoor swimming pool, spa and gym. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities, hairdryer, minibar and Wi-Fi. The lovely restaurant offers good fresh food and there are also 3 bars to relax in. There is a lift.
We travel South via Evesham and include entry to the Almonry Museum and Heritage Centre, a 14th Century building, which now houses a unique collection of artefacts, as well as exhibitions of the history of the area. We continue through traditional Cotswold scenery to the Best Western Blunsdon House Hotel for 3 nights half board accommodation.
We transfer to Chavenage House, which featured on the Channel 4 documentary series 'You Can't Get the Staff'. We include a guided tour around the Manor, virtually unchanged for 400 years. Later, we enjoy a short break in Tetbury, before a visit to Abbey House Gardens.
Today we travel through the Vale of the White Horse to Oxford, here we will be joined by a local guide, who will take us on a tour of the city. The remainder of the day is free for shopping and sightseeing.
Departing the hotel, we travel via Stratford-upon-Avon, an historic town in the heart of England and the birthplace of William Shakespeare. We continue our journey, arriving into the local area early evening.
