It's located in the north west corner of County Galway and is an area of desolate beauty, incredible scenery and some interesting attractions, which combine to make Connemara a beautiful place. Following excellent feedback, we return to the luxurious Clifden Station House Hotel, built on the site of the original Clifden railway station. Highlights of the tour feature Lough Corrib, Kylemore Abbey and an unforgettable trip to the Aran Islands.

The 4 star Bloomfield House Hotel is a family owned hotel situated in the heart of the beautiful Westmeath Lakeland's in an idyllic setting overlooking Lough Ennell. Clifden Station House Hotel

The 4 star Clifden Station House Hotel is in the heart of Connemara, in the picturesque coastal town of Clifden. Built on the site of the original Clifden railway station, the Railway Station, its Station House Platform and Engine House have been magnificently restored and transformed into the Clifden Station House Hotel and Courtyard. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities, hairdryer and Wi-Fi. The hotel has a spa, wellness centre and indoor swimming pool. There is a lift.

Carrickdale Hotel & Spa

The 4 star Carrickdale Hotel & Spa is in Carrickcarnon. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities and hairdryer and Wi-Fi. There is a fitness centre, swimming pool and spa facilities. There is a lift.

Sunday

We travel via Loch Ryan to board the afternoon Stena Line ferry to Belfast. We disembark and travel south to Mullingar for overnight half board accommodation at the Bloomfield House Hotel.

Monday

After breakfast we travel to Galway, the 2020 European Capital of Culture where we take an extended break. We continue west to the picturesque coastal town of Clifden for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Clifden Station House Hotel.

Tuesday

A scenic coastal and mountain day as we travel via Lough Inagh, Leenanne and onto the picturesque town of Westport where you have free time to explore. We return via Louisburgh and the mountainous landscape of the Doolough Valley.

Wednesday

This morning we visit the magnificent Aran Islands. We take a 40-minute crossing on the ferry from the village of Ros a' Mhil, arriving into the harbour of Kilronan from where we embark on a minibus tour with a local guide. The highlight of our tour is Dun Aengus, a 2000-year-old fort perched on the edge of a 60m cliff top (this is a strenuous, but worthwhile walk). Please note that sturdy footwear is recommended, as the path to the fort is quite steep and partly follows some uneven ground.

Thursday

We begin the day with a visit to Kylemore Abbey, owned and run by the Benedictine community who have been in residence here since 1920. Boasting Ireland's largest walled garden, the Abbey also sells Kylemore Abbey pottery and award-winning chocolates handmade by the Benedictine nuns. We continue via the coast of Connemara and the harbour village of Roundstone.

Friday

Departing after breakfast we travel via the shores of Lough Corrib and the picturesque village of Cong. We continue to Carrickcarnon for our overnight half-board accommodation at the Carrickdale Hotel.

Saturday

Morning transfer to Belfast for the mid-day sailing to Loch Ryan. Arriving back into the local area early evening.

EXCURSIONS - entrance to Kylemore Abbey and a guided day excursion to Aran Island via ferry and mini-bus. Entrance to Dun Aengus Fort included whilst on Aran Islands.
