A mid-week break into the county of Cambridgeshire with lots to see and do and excellent accommodation at the Huntingdon Marriott. We enjoy a guided tour of Cambridge, a day to Ely then into Suffolk where we visit 'The Chocolate Lady'. On our final day we call at Audley End one of Britain's great treasure houses. An interesting tour with a variety of inclusions!
The 4 star Marriott Huntingdon Hotel is nestled on the outskirts of Cambridgeshire. It has a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym. All the en suite bedrooms are equipped with TV, alarm clock, Wi-Fi, hairdryer, iron & ironing board and tea making facilities. There is a lift.
We travel south and enjoy a break in the historic town of Stamford. Later we continue to the Huntingdon Marriott Hotel for 4 nights half board accommodation.
A morning guided tour of the City of Cambridge, a compact cosmopolitan city with outstanding architecture, old and new. The afternoon is free to explore the beauty of its ancient centre.
Today we travel via Ely a city rich in history, with a magnificent cathedral. After lunch we head through the Suffolk villages to Steeple Bumpstead and 'The Chocolate Lady' for a witty and wonderful demonstration of the art of chocolate making (includes tea and biscuits).
We visit the riverside town of St Ives with its mix of independent retailers and lots of original character. In the afternoon we visit Audley End House & Gardens. Explore the Victorian walled garden, and visit the impressive mansion house which contains an amazing collection of natural history artefacts.
We depart for home returning via Rutland Water, Oakham and Melton Mowbray. Arrive home early evening.
