Scarborough is a fine Edwardian Spa resort with an attractive harbour and 2 beaches dominated by a ruined Norman Castle. Our tour features the David Hockney Trail, Thornton-le-Dale and historic Whitby, leaving plenty of time to enjoy Scarborough. Sunday lunch is included in this tour.
The 3 star Red Lea Hotel is located on Scarborough’s favoured South Cliff, close to the Cliff Lift. The attractions of the town centre, castle and bustling harbour are only a short stroll away. All the en suite bedrooms have TV, Wi-Fi, telephone and tea making facilities. Relax in the comfortable lounges or enjoy the fully heated indoor swimming pool. Please note: there are eight steps up into the hotel with handrails. There is a lift.
We travel via York (coffee break) before continuing to Scarborough via the David Hockney Trail, a route that the ‘Godfather of modern art’ has chosen as the location for many of his works. Our route takes us via the Wolds Village of Warter, for an interesting refreshment break then via Wetwang and Sledmere. We continue to Scarborough for 2 nights half board accommodation at the Red Lea Hotel.
We journey to Thornton-le-Dale for some free time before travelling over the North York Moors to Whitby. We return via the Yorkshire coast.
Free time in Scarborough before returning to the hotel for an included Sunday lunch. Depart for home via Helmsley and Thirsk. Arrive home early evening.
