It's time to enter the 'Christmas Mood' with this short break featuring a visit to Chatsworth House where the decorative theme this year is 'Oh Dickens it's Christmas'. On Sunday we visit Manchester's Christmas Markets which transforms much of the city centre with their wooden chalets bustling with food, drink, fashions and gifts from around the world. We have added a 'Touch of Class' to the weekend with accommodation at the 4 star Tankersley Manor Hotel.
The 4 star Q Tankersley Manor Hotel is set in a 17th-century manor with original features such as exposed wood beams and stone windowsills. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, tea making facilities, hairdryer, trouser press and Wi-fi. There is a health club with swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam room. There is a lift.
Morning departure we head into the heart of the Peak District to Chatsworth House. Here we include entry to this stunning home, which will be beautifully decorated for the festive season, this year taking on the theme of 'Oh Dickens it's Christmas'. Later in the day we continue to the Q Tankersley Manor Hotel, for overnight half- board accommodation.
We travel across the Pennines to Manchester where we spend the day in the city, which will be hosting their annual Christmas Market. The main hub of the action is Albert Square's European Markets, where an entire Alpine Village is constructed under the watchful eye of the Town Hall's giant illuminated Father Christmas. With rows and rows of stalls selling everything from continental cheeses to Christmas trees, hot bratwursts to crepes and scarves and hats to hand made chocolates, Albert Square is a great place to pick up a quirky festive gift. Later in the day we travel home arriving into our local area early evening.
