Dorset is a county of great beauty, boasting the mildest climate in the U.K. and beyond the varied coastline lies rolling countryside rich in archaeology and unspoilt rural villages. Our base is the family owned George Albert Hotel, located just outside Dorchester.
The 3 star George Albert offers all the modern facilities you would expect from a new hotel whilst retaining a distinctive friendly atmosphere. The recently added spa offers the opportunity for extra pampering and relaxation. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities, hairdryer and Wi-Fi. There is a lift.
We journey via the main roads and motorways to Dorchester for 4 nights half board accommodation at the George Albert Hotel.
We head to West Bay on Dorset's dramatic coastline, now famous as the location of ITV's drama 'Broadchurch', and then to nearby Bridport. Later in the day we visit the delightful coastal town of Lyme Regis.
Today we visit maritime Poole, a bustling town with its historic quayside, shops, famous pottery and home to Europe's largest natural harbour. Continuing to the 'Isle of Purbeck' peninsular and the lively seaside resort of Swanage.
We spend the morning in Weymouth, a seaside resort that has 'kept up with the times' but still retains its quaint coastal charms. Later we return to Dorchester where we have included a visit to the County Museum to see 'Dippy the Dinosaur'. It has been on display in the Natural History Museum in London but has come to Dorset, home of the Jurassic coast for a visit!
We depart after breakfast, arriving home early evening.
