Holiday Overview

Join us as we embark upon a true Scottish adventure, travelling via road, sea and rail. We begin in the Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Lewis, renowned worldwide for its stunning landscape of sandy beaches and sparkling blue waters. We then move onto the Isle of Skye, here you will discover some of the finest scenery in the world including the Cuillin Mountains and the Quiraing, breath-taking cliff lines and views that you will treasure forever. Not only will your guide bring to life some of the history and culture of the area but you will also hear of a land that is steeped in myth and legend. We include entry to the magical Dunvegan Castle, take a 'wildlife' trip on a glass bottom boat and experience a rail journey on the original 'Great Railway Journey of the World' taking us from Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness.

Caladh Inn

The 2 star Caladh Inn is a pleasant modern hotel with a ‘laid back’ atmosphere a short walk from the centre of Stornoway. The 'Eleven' restaurant has an excellent reputation for first class food. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities and Wi-Fi. There is a lift.

Kings Arms Hotel

The 2 star Kings Arms Hotel in Kyleakin offers a combination of Skye tradition with modern day comforts. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, tea making facilities and hairdryer. Wi-Fi is available in the lounge. There is no lift but ground floor rooms are available on request.

Duke of Gordon

The 3 star Duke of Gordon is a privately owned hotel in the heart of the Scottish Highlands and the Cairngorm National Park. The hotel offers the traditional character and heritage of an old Scottish coaching inn. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, tea making facilities, trouser press and Wi-Fi. There is a lift to 1st and 2nd floors only.

We depart early and journey via the main roads and motorways to Ullapool where we board the late afternoon ferry to Stornoway. A 2-course evening meal will be included on-board in the cafeteria before we disembark at approx. 9pm and make the short transfer to the Caladh Inn for 2 nights accommodation (first night bed and breakfast and the second night dinner bed and breakfast).

Please note: that this is a long day with an early departure and a late arrival at your hotel.


A full day guided tour that will bring to life the 'Celtic Culture' and heritage of the Isle of Lewis. We include visits to the lighthouse, the Trushal Stone and the standing stones of Callanish.


We depart Stornoway and travel south to Tarbert where we board the lunch time ferry to Uig on the Isle of Skye. We disembark early afternoon and enjoy a tour of the north of the island. Later we check in for 2 nights half board accommodation at the Kings Arms Hotel, with panoramic views over the Kyle of Lochalsh.


Today we are joined by a local guide who will take us on an excursion of the western side of the island, highlighting the fascinating history and past of this romantic location. We include entry to Dunvegan Castle, the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland.


We depart Kyleakin and travel over the impressive Skye Bridge to the Kyle of Lochalsh where we have included a 1 hour boat trip aboard a Glass Bottom Boat. The waters of this region are so rich in wildlife that they have been designated a Marine Special Area of Conservation. There will be time for lunch in the town before we board the afternoon train from Kyle to Inverness, a route known as the original 'Great Railway Journey of the World'. We re-join our coach in Inverness and travel to the Duke of Gordon Hotel in Kingussie for overnight half board accommodation.


We travel home via the main roads and motorways, arriving early evening.
