The 4 star Q Hampshire Court Hotel is a modern, well presented hotel in Chineham on the outskirts of Basingstoke. We travel south via the main roads and motorways to Basingstoke and the Hampshire Court Hotel for 4 nights half board accommodation.
We enjoy a day at the magnificent Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill in 1874. Explore the state rooms and Churchill exhibition or take in the beautiful formal gardens, great lake and parkland, designed by Capability Brown. Later we call at St Martins Church in Bladon, the final resting place of Churchill.
London is our destination today as we head to the Cabinet War Rooms and Churchill Museum. Discover the secrets hidden beneath the streets of Westminster in the underground nerve centre where Sir Winston Churchill and his inner circle directed the Second World War.
Today we travel into the Kent countryside and visit Chartwell House, the much-loved Churchill family home from 1922. The rooms remain much as they were when he lived here, with pictures, books and personal mementoes evoking the career of a great statesman, writer, painter and family man. Later we continue to Guildford with its Norman Castle, impressive Cathedral and historic cobbled high street.
We depart for home arriving in our local area late afternoon.
