Like a stepping-stone in the Irish Sea midway between England and Ireland, the Isle of Man has attracted visitors for many years. Douglas is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful island and our itinerary features some of the islands most interesting attractions, including Cregneash Folk Village, the Manx Electric Railway and the Snaefell Mountain Railway.
The 3 star Rutland Hotel is located off Queens Promenade and boasts stunning views across Douglas Bay. There is a bar, lounge and the restaurant specialise in seasonal produce using the best local ingredients. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities, hairdryer, iron & ironing board and Wi-Fi. There is a lift.

Morning departure, we include a coffee stop in Levens en route to Heysham for the afternoon crossing to Douglas. Our accommodation is 4 nights half board at the Rutland Hotel, Douglas.
We travel on the Isle of Man Steam Railway, the longest narrow-gauge steam line in Britain, a 1 hour journey from Douglas to Port Erin. You have free time to explore before we visit the Cregneash Folk Village, here we discover the Manx cottages to see how crofters lived through stories, skills and craft demonstrations.
We explore the north of the island a chance to view Tynwald Hill, home of the 1000-year-old Manx Parliament. We then follow some of the famous TT Motorcycle Course, to 'Royal' Ramsey. Then it's all aboard the Manx Electric Railway for a scenic journey south to Laxey, before boarding the Snaefell Mountain Railway for a return journey up to the highest point of the island.
We take a trip over to the west coast and the resort of Peel with its flat sandy beach and absorbing attractions. We head back to Douglas, for free time in the island's capital, a unique blend of holiday resort, finance centre and working harbour. Not to be missed is the award-winning Manx Museum (free of charge) for a journey of discovery into the island's absorbing history.
We depart after an early breakfast and transfer to the port at Douglas to catch the morning boat to Heysham. Arrive home mid-afternoon.
