A new Irish Tour for our 2017 programme taking in the delights of Ireland’s South East Corner. During your holiday you will experience some of Ireland’s hidden gems as we travel through the impressive Wicklow Mountains, enjoy a relaxing river cruise and a rail journey through the Suir Valley. We also visit Mount Congreve Gardens and the town of New Ross, where we include entry to the fascinating Dunbrody Famine Ship and view the Ros Tapestry. Our base is the city of Waterford, made famous by the town’s crystal production. Our hotel is the family run Dooley’s Hotel where a warm Irish welcome awaits.

The 3 star Stormont Hotel is situated in the leafy suburbs of Belfast four miles from the city centre. Enjoy contemporary dining and relax in the stylish lounge and reception area. All the very comfortable bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, hairdryer and tea making facilities. There is a lift.
We travel via the North Wales coast to board the early afternoon Stena Line ferry from Holyhead to Dublin. We disembark and travel to Enniskerry for overnight half board accommodation at the Summerhill House Hotel.
We travel via the coast to the town of New Ross where we include a visit to the fascinating Dunbrody Famine Ship, centred on an authentic reproduction of an 1840’s emigrant vessel, it provides a world-class interpretation of the famine emigrant experience. Mid-afternoon we enjoy a relaxing river cruise on board the Galley, including tea/coffee and a scone. We disembark and travel the short distance to Waterford for 3 nights half board accommodation at the Dooley’s Hotel.
This morning we take to the railway as we join the Waterford & Suir Valley line for a single journey to Congreve Garden. You will experience the beauty of the Suir Valley from the period carriage as you take in the panoramic views of the river, rolling farmland and mountains. The highlight of today will be a visit to Mount Congreve Gardens – Mr Ambrose’s Congreve private garden that is ultimately famous for being the home of one of ‘the great gardens of the World’.
This morning we travel via the old road to visit the town of Kilkenny, Ireland’s medieval capital, steeped in heritage, culture and the home to master crafts and brewing. Later in the day we return to Waterford with a chance to visit the Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre.
We depart Waterford and travel to the Newbridge Silverware Visitors Centre, continuing our journey north via the shores of Carlingford Lough. We continue to the outskirts of Belfast for overnight half board accommodation at the Stormont Hotel.
Enjoy a leisurely start today, mid-morning we make the short transfer to Belfast port to join the late morning sailing to Cairnryan. We disembark early afternoon and travel south via the main roads and motorways. Arrive home early evening.
