The 4 star Grant Arms Hotel is a traditional stone-built building set at the heart of Grantown-on-Spey. The recently refurbished restaurant serves locally sourced produce in cosy surroundings. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities, hairdryer and Wi-Fi. There is a lift.
We travel north through the scenic borders and highlands, with a stop on the way, arriving at the Grant Arms Hotel for 4 nights half board accommodation.
Today we visit Ballindalloch Castle, one of the finest examples of a Scottish Baronial castle, complete with beautiful walled gardens. Later we continue to the Glenfiddiich Distillery at Dufftown where you can enjoy a tour with a knowledgeable guide and 3 whisky tastings.
This morning we head to the magnificent city of Inverness, capital of the Scottish Highlands. Explore the impressive castle set on the banks of the River Ness and St Andrews Cathedral in the old town. Later we return to our hotel via the pretty town of Nairn, with its golden sandy beach and spectacular views over the Moray Firth.
We travel to Broomhill for our journey to Aviemore, aboard the Strathspey Steam Railway. Take in the breath-taking scenery of the Cairngorms as you steam through the highland countryside.
We depart and journey home with a suitable stop on the way, arriving into the local area late afternoon.
