The natural beauty of Southwest Wales is famed all over the world and showcases some of the most diverse Welsh landscapes with spectacular mountains, rolling hills and secluded forests to the vast expanses of golden sandy beaches. Our base is the Tywi Valley town of Carmarthen, ideal as we visit Cardigan, St David’s, Mumbles and the Gower Peninsula.
The 3 star Ivy Bush Royal Hotel is within walking distance of Carmarthen town centre. The hotel retains its old-world charm blended with modern day facilities. The restaurant uses fresh local produce in its seasonal menus and Welsh Black beef, from a local farm, features prominently with succulent results. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, tea making facilities, hairdryer and Wi-Fi. There is also a gym and sauna. There is a lift.
We journey via the main roads and motorways to Carmarthen for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel.
We travel to Cardigan and the North Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, calling at Fishguard. This afternoon we visit St David’s, with its beautiful cathedral.
We make our way to the pretty resort of Mumbles, located on Swansea Bay, where you will have time to explore. Later we head to the Gower Heritage Centre, where a guide will take us on a tour highlighting some of the unspoilt scenery of the Gower Peninsula before we return to the centre for a cream tea.
Morning free in Carmarthen where today is market day. Later an included visit to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. There are formal gardens, a nature reserve and its centrepiece is a large Glasshouse.
We depart for home, arriving back into the local area early evening.
