Travel to CheshireWe travel to Southport where we take a break. We continue via ‘Another Place,’ a piece of modern sculpture by Sir Antony Gormley located at Crosby Beach in Merseyside. Later we transfer to the Cottons Hotel for 4 nights half board accommodation.

Buxton & BakewellToday we cross the border into the Peak District and visit Buxton, a spa town in Derbyshire, the highest market town in England. In the afternoon we visit the famous pudding town of Bakewell.

Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre & Dorothy Clive GardenThis morning we visit Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre where we learn all about the Shire horse, from its history carrying knights in armour to the important studwork today. We continue via Nantwich to Dorothy Clive Garden, a hillside garden hosting a network of paths that invite the visitor to explore and discover the intimacy and tranquillity of the garden.

The Lion Salt Works, Anderton Boat Lift & Arley Hall & GardensOur first visit this morning is to the Lion Salt Works, a restored historic open-pan salt making site, in the village of Marston. We continue to view the Anderton Boat Lift, a fascinating Victorian masterpiece with its visitor centre and café. We finish the day with included entry to the delightful Arley Hall & Gardens.

Return homeWe spend the day at RHS Garden Bridgewater. The task of restoring, regenerating, and replanting has been a labour of love for all involved. Their hard work, the vision of award-winning designers and the extraordinary heritage of the site has led to a truly inspired garden. Late afternoon we continue our journey home, arriving early evening.
