Climb aboard as we journey via England’s most scenic railway, taking in the attractions of the 72 mile stretch between Settle and Carlisle. On arrival in Carlisle, we have free time before we head east into County Durham for 2 nights accommodation at the Radisson Blu Hotel Durham. Also included, a cruise on the River Wear and time in Whitby. A real treat!

Depart for Durham
We congregate in Settle for coffee (price not included) before joining the mid-morning train from Settle to Carlisle. Relax on a journey which takes you over the 24 arches of the Ribblehead Viaduct to the side of Dentdale, through the gentle rolling hills of the Eden Valley before arriving in Carlisle. Later we travel to Durham for 2 nights half board accommodation at the Radisson Blu Hotel Durham.Saturday

River cruise & free time
Transfer into Durham for a 1-hour river cruise onboard the Prince Bishop taking in the sites of the city from the River Wear. Tea and biscuits are served on board before we enjoy free time in the city.Sunday

Return home via Whitby
We journey to the picture postcard seaport of Whitby, dominated by the cliff-top ruins of the 13th century abbey (minimum 3.5hr stay). We continue home later in the day, arriving early evening.Supplements
