Dunnottar Castle & Stonehaven
Today we visit Dunnottar Castle, a dramatic cliff top ruin surrounded by the North Sea on three sides that is a photographer’s paradise. Steeped in history, the castle was once a fortress of the Earls of Marischal and the outcrop is approached via a 300 metre relatively flat path followed by a number of steps. Later we visit the charming Stonehaven, with its pretty harbour, white sandy beach and independent shops and eateries.

Glamis Castle & RRS Discovery
This morning we travel to Glamis Castle for a guided tour of the childhood home of HM Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother and the birthplace of HRH Princess Margaret. Later we return to Dundee and board RRS Discovery, the first ship purpose built in Dundee for Antarctic scientific expedition. Home to Captain Scott, Ernest Shackleton and their brave crew, discover how they lived and worked on their historic voyage.

House of Dun & Pitmuies Gardens
We start our day with a lovely coastal drive to the House of Dun, overlooking the Montrose Basin. The Georgian mansion has extravagant interiors, a stunning walled garden and costumed guides bring the fascinating history to life. Later we visit Pitmuies Gardens, a hidden gem that dates back to the 18th century. Discover a stunning formal garden with a breath-taking ‘ravine’ of pastel herbaceous flowers, a traditional rose garden, cherry tree walk and kitchen garden plus woodland paths for you to explore.
