Travel to Durham

We travel to Darlington and the Head of Steam Railway Museum, located in the former North Road Station on the route of the world’s first public steam railway. Later we continue to Allensford and the Derwent Manor Hotel for 2 nights half board accommodation.

Saturday

Durham & Kynren

We spend the day exploring the city of Durham, why not visit the Cathedral and Castle UNESCO World Heritage sites, or the quirky shops and eateries set in the maze of hilly, cobbled streets. We return to the hotel for an early dinner before we head to Bishop Auckland for Kynren, a thrilling tale told on an enormous scale bringing to life the incredible story of England’s last 2,000 years, taking the audiences on an action-packed journey through time. Travel through the fog of war, noise of battle, heat of industry and pageantry of royal ceremony; from King Arthur and the Romans to Queen Elizabeth I, Shakespeare and the Victorians, all told with thrilling choreography, amazing stunts, equestrianism, special effects and pyrotechnics. Please note this is an outdoor show so please ensure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather conditions.

Museum of the Royal Navy & Return home

We head to the National Museum of the Royal Navy at Hartlepool where you can explore the 18th century quayside and the impressive HMS Trincomalee. Travel home arriving into our local area late afternoon.
