We are thrilled to unveil a brand‑new addition to our European programme: a captivating tour of Switzerland, a country celebrated for its magnificent Alpine scenery and rich cultural heritage. Based in the charming old town of Winterthur, we’ll be perfectly placed to explore some of Switzerland’s most breathtaking natural and cultural highlights. During this memorable journey, you’ll experience the beauty of the Black Forest, Lake Titisee, and the majestic Rhine Falls, as well as visit the remarkable Abbey Library of St Gall. The tour also includes time at Lake Lucerne, a ride on the iconic Rigi Mountain Railway, and a delightful excursion to the flower-filled Mainau Island.

Late morning transfer to Hull for the overnight ferry crossing to Rotterdam (Meals not included).

Travel to Offenburg for Overnight Stay
We journey through the Netherlands into Germany, travelling via the main roads and motorways to Offenburg for overnight half board accommodation (buffet meal) at the Mercure Am Messeplatz Offenburg Hotel.

Travel to Winterthur via Lake Titisee
This morning, we journey through the beautiful landscapes of the Black Forest, stopping in the picturesque lakeside town of Titisee, renowned for its crystal‑clear waters, postcard‑worthy views, and tranquil lakeside strolls. We then continue to the impressive Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen before travelling onwards to Winterthur, for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Park Hotel.
Excursions
- A morning visit to the Abbey Library of St Gall in St. Gallen, Switzerland, one of the world’s oldest and most significant monastic libraries, with origins stretching back to the early Middle Ages. Founded as part of the Benedictine Abbey established by Saint Othmar, it has been a centre of learning, culture, and manuscript production for over 1,200 years. The library’s famous Rococo Hall, designed by architect Peter Thumb and completed between 1758–1767, is considered one of the most beautiful library interiors in the world. The afternoon is free to explore your base of Winterthur.
- A full day visit to Lake Lucerne begins with a guided tour of the city of Lucerne. No visit to the area is complete without experiencing the lake itself, and we enjoy a one‑hour return cruise to fully appreciate the magic of the surrounding landscape. To round off the day we take a journey on the Rigi Mountain Railway one of Switzerland’s most iconic transport experiences, renowned for its pioneering engineering and spectacular alpine scenery. It holds a special place in European railway history as the first mountain rack railway in Europe.
- A memorable day as we discover the enchanting beauty of Mainau, Germany’s famous “Flower Island,” where vibrant seasonal blooms, rare historic trees, and sweeping lakeside views create a true botanical paradise. Wander through dazzling displays of tulips, roses, and dahlias, explore the striking baroque palace and church, and step into one of Germany’s largest butterfly houses filled with colourful exotic species. With its gentle climate, lush gardens, and serene parkland, Mainau offers an unforgettable escape into nature’s splendour.

Travel to Boppard for Overnight Stay
We travel back into Germany to the picturesque Rhineside town of Boppard, where we stay overnight on a half‑board basis at the Bellevue Rheinhotel. Our aim is to arrive by mid‑afternoon, giving you ample time to enjoy the charming riverside promenades, admire the vineyard‑covered hills, and soak up the town’s rich historical character.

Please note the Entry/Exit System (EES) is now active at some border crossings and you may need to scan your fingerprints and have your photo taken at automated gates instead of your passport being stamped.
From April 2027, at the time of going to print, when travelling to the Shengen Area of Europe (countries without border controls), you will need to apply for an ETIAS before travel. This is not a Visa, but an Electronic Travel Authorisation linked to your passport. The form will be online, quick to complete and there may be a small fee to pay. It will be valid for up to 3 years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
