We travel into the heart of Lincolnshire where we try our hand at grabbing a bargain at the famous Hemswell Antiques. We visit the magnificent city of Lincoln and the Rural Capital of Food, Melton Mowbray. We take a relaxing cruise on Rutland Water and finish with a memorable visit to the stunning Burghley House.

Depart for Chesterfield then onto Lincolnshire

We travel via Chesterfield where you can view the famous crooked spire of St Mary’s & All Saints Church or explore the towns market. We continue to Lincolnshire and the Olde Barn Hotel for 4 nights half board accommodation.

Monday

Date : August 5, 2024

Hemswell Antiques & Lincoln

We try and grab a bargain this morning as we visit Hemswell Antiques, exploring the maze of rooms in each building which feature an unrivalled choice of beautiful high-quality goods. Later in the day we visit the cathedral city of Lincoln.

Tuesday

Melton Mowbray & cruise on the Rutland Belle

This morning we visit Britain’s Rural Capital of Food, Melton Mowbray, famous for its pork pie production and stilton cheese. Take time to wander around the farmers market, before we continue to Oakham and onto Rutland Water, where we enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Rutland Belle.

Stamford & Burghley House

We travel to the Georgian town of Stamford, famed for its quaint stone buildings and pretty town centre. A short drive from Stamford is the stunning Burghley House, a 16th century masterpiece filled with beautiful treasures and impressive paintings.

Return home via Cannon Hall Museum, House, and Gardens

We return via Cannon Hall Museum, House, and Gardens (free entry) with time to take lunch in one of the farm restaurants (This does not include entry to the farm). We continue our journey, arriving home late afternoon.
