Depart for Kirkby Stephen & Newcastle

We travel via Kirkby Stephen to Barnard Castle with time to explore this historic town with its castle ruin and independent shops and cafes. We continue to central Newcastle for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Maldron Hotel.

Monday

Belsay Hall, Castle & Gardens

Today we head to Bellsay Hall, Castle and Gardens where you can explore the medieval castle, Georgian Hall and walk through the Quarry Garden, a dramatic rocky ravine with its own microclimate and filled with exotic plants.

Tuesday

Guided Tour of Newcastle & Free Time

This morning we are joined on board by a local guide who will bring to life some highlights of this dynamic city. Later you are free to explore at your leisure

Wednesday

Tynemouth & Morpeth

We start our day with a visit to Tynemouth, with its dramatic headland, ruined priory, golden sandy beach, and promenade. We continue up the coast via Whitley Bay and Blyth before heading to the pretty market town of Morpeth, a vibrant mix of quirky shops, cafes, character buildings and cobbled streets.

Thursday

Return Home via Beamish

We head to Beamish Museum, a living history museum where you can sample life in the Northeast in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times plus the more recent history of the new 1950’s town. We depart for home, arriving into our local area early evening.
