Caithness & John o’ Groats
Today we explore Caithness, taking in views of the Castle of Mey, former royal residence of the Queen Mother, before continuing along the stunning coastline to John o’ Groats, the most northerly point of the UK mainland. There will be time to explore the village and take in the stunning scenery.Saturday

Depart for Stromness on Orkney & overnight ferry
After a leisurely breakfast we travel to Scrabster for our early afternoon ferry to Stromness on Orkney. After disembarking we are joined by a local guide and visit the ancient settlement of Skara Brae. Discovered in 1850 and older than Stone Henge, it offers a unique insight into prehistoric life. We also include a visit to the interesting Italian Chapel, a beautiful Roman Catholic chapel in Lamb Holm which was constructed by Italian POWs during the Second World War. We continue to the Albert Hotel for a 3-course dinner with tea & coffee before boarding our ferry for the overnight crossing from Kirkwall to Lerwick on Shetland.Sunday

Guided tour of Shetland & overnight ferry
After a continental breakfast on board we disembark and are joined by a local guide for the day. We visit a local jewellery workshop before exploring the Shetland Museum & Archive. Enjoy some free time for lunch before we continue to the Iron Age Broch on the island of Mousa and Jarlshof, Europe’s largest archaeological ranging from the Neolithic up to the 1600’s. Later we board our ferry for dinner and the overnight crossing from Lerwick to Aberdeen.Monday
