Braemar’s premier cultural and sporting event is the Braemar Gathering, the most famous and best-attended Highland Games in Scotland. Royal patronage began with Queen Victoria in 1848 and continues today with regular attendance by many of the Royal Family, the late Queen Elizabeth II and his Majesty the King. Soak up the atmosphere, pageantry, and spectacle of the Games with massed pipe bands, the tossing of the Braemar caber and the inter services tug of war, just some of the highlights not to miss.
