The 4 star Best Western Plus Ullesthorpe Court Hotel provides modern luxury accommodation in what was originally a 17th Century Manor House. The hotel is set in 120 acres of glorious Leicestershire countryside and all bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities and Wi-Fi. We travel via Alrewas, home to the National Memorial Arboretum, a national site of remembrance. Mid-afternoon we continue to the Best Western Plus Ullesthorpe Court Hotel for 4 nights half board accommodation.
We visit Coventry, home to the Museum of British Road Transport, with thousands of items of memorabilia from the golden age of cars and cycles. The museum is only five minutes walk from the world-famous Coventry Cathedral. Later we visit Baddesley Clinton House, a moated house with three priest holes, which has been a sanctuary since the 15th century.
This morning we head to Foxton where we board 'Vagabond', an elegant vintage motor launch, for a trip on the Grand Union Canal. After seeing the Foxton flight of 10 locks there is a canal-side pub where refreshments are available. Later we join the Great Central Railway for a nostalgic steam train ride.
A full day to visit Bletchley Park, once the top-secret home of the Word War 2 codebreakers now a vibrant visitor attraction. Be sure to visit the Block B museum, which tells the complete Bletchley Park story.
We depart for home and include a visit to the award-winning King Richard III Visitor Centre in Leicester, discover the incredible story of the King's life and death, one of the greatest archaeological detective stories ever told. We continue our journey, arriving into our local area late afternoon.
