A hugely popular summer break, we return to the beauty of Loch Lomond and the excellent Winnock Hotel to embark upon a Victorian Steam Journey. Our tour contains specially arranged rides on various modes of steam transport providing a nostalgic mix of rail, loch and canal. A cruise on Loch Katrine, a ride on The Falkirk Wheel and a train journey on The Bo'Ness & Kinneil Steam Railway.
The 3 star Winnock Hotel takes centre stage on the village green. In the restaurant enjoy the best of local produce and the bar offers a range of 40 speciality malt whiskies. All bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone, tea making facilities and Wi-Fi. There is no lift but a few ground floor rooms are available, all other rooms are on the first floor.
We travel north to visit the Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, continuing to Drymen for 4 nights half board accommodation at the Winnock Hotel.
We travel via Aberfoyle and through the Trossachs, continuing to Loch Katrine for a 2-hour cruise aboard Steam Ship 'Sir Walter Scott'. After disembarkation we take lunch in the Brenachoile Restaurant on the loch side and then have free time in Callander.
We travel to Luss on Loch Lomond (coffee stop) then we go via Shantron to view Faslane Bay and Gare Loch. We continue to Inveraray (lunch stop) then via Tyndrum and Crianlarich back to our hotel.
We head for the Falkirk Wheel, the worlds' first and only rotating boat lift. Later we embark upon the Bo'Ness & Kinneil railway for a nostalgic steam train journey and a delightful cream tea.
We travel home via Glasgow, arriving into our local area late afternoon.
